Deborah Brown was a Northern Irish sculptor whose pioneering work in fibreglass in the 1960s established her as one of the country’s leading contemporary artists and earned her extensive international acclaim. However, it is for her sculpture of Johann, overlooking Cushendun Harbour, that she is best known in the Glens of Antrim.

Deborah spent much of her childhood in Cushendun, where she learned to paint under the tutelage of Humbert Craig. Her work, even at its most abstract, arguably still has echoes of the landscape of the Glens, which remained an enduring influence.

The Old Church Centre has the privilege of hosting a collection of works connected to Cushendun and the landscape of the Glens. This will be the first exhibition dedicated to Deborah Brown to be held in Northern Ireland for over a decade.

This exhibition will remain at the Old Church Centre until 10th October – it will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 12–4pm, and by appointment.
