SUMMARY:Portrait Photography Workshop with James Hughes - Londonderry Arms
DESCRIPTION:We Live Here’ is a photography project recording the people who live and work in the Glens of Antrim    Visitors from all over the world fall in love with the spectacular landscape and rural traditions of the Glens\, meanwhile\, the people who actually live here are getting on with modern working life in all its variety. From hairdressers to farmers\, from bakers to mechanics\, these are the everyday heroes who keep the Glens of Antrim a living\, thriving community. \nCushendun Building Preservation Trust has commissioned photographer James Hughes to produce a series of portrait photographs for exhibition at the Old Church Centre this summer. The exhibition will run from 8 July – 28 August at the Old Church Centre. Accompanying the exhibition\, CBPT will be running three workshops led by James Hughes. This first workshop will be held in the Londonderry Arms. The workshops will give an overview of portrait photography and will include demonstrations of techniques and skills for all levels of experience whether using a phone or an SLR. \nThis project has been funded by the Arts Council NI\, CBPT also  gratefully acknowledges core funding from the National Lottery Heritage Funds and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council

DESCRIPTION:Born\, bred and based in County Down\, The Sands Family have been singing and playing music since the late 1960’s. \nWith their tours\, recordings\, radio and television work the band played a significant part in the creation of the phenomenal world-wide interest in Irish folk and traditional music. \nSiblings Tommy\, Ben\, Colum and Anne would be the first to agree that their ability to weave local and often humorous stories into songs that travel the world is greatly inspired by their connection to the people\, the places and the stories from close to home. \nLike most performers\, the band greatly welcomes the return of live music after the long drought of the past few years and they are all looking forward to a first return visit in many years to the Glens of Antrim for the Big Arts Festival.
