SUMMARY:Pieces of Me - Bridgeen Butler Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:“Pieces of Me” \nLandscapes\, Seascapes and Escapes \nSolo Exhibition of original artworks by Bridgeen Butler \nBridgeen’s ‘ PIECES of me’ collection demonstrates in a variety of forms how she has been influenced by the landscape and seascape of the North Antrim coast. Representationally and symbolically earth\, wind\, water and fire appear in her work in many guises. She professes to have no particular style and is reluctant to be defined by one; rather her art process is lead by experimentation with a variety of themes\, techniques and materials to discover new ways of expression. \nWhile art has always been a passion and a lifelong interest for Bridgeen\, it was not until she retired that she was able to devote her time and energy to producing art. She describes artmaking as her full time pastime and therapy. “I begin each new piece with no plan and let the marks drive the process\, feeling my way into my work; every day is an new opportunity for learning and exploring art making and self expression”. \nBridgeen sums up her relationship with art making as “It feels like I am doing what I was always supposed to do” and laughs when she says “better late than never”.

DESCRIPTION:‘UNDER THE RADAR’  \n2pm: Sunday 12 June: Antrim Community Choir present ‘Under the Radar’ project in the Old Church Centre \n3pm: Exhibition of project \nAntrim Community Choir operate ‘under the radar’!   They are ordinary people who will be doing extraordinary things within this Project through poetry\, prose\, storytelling and song.  The choir are visiting the Glens of Antrim and engaging with other ‘ordinary’ people who touch the heart or who have touched the heart of their community. They will share their stories of growing up in the Glens; reflect on how different it is today and the type of challenges they have to face. The Project concludes on 12th June in The Old Church Centre\, Cushendun.  The Finale celebration will include a display of photographs\, stories and poems written by members of the Choir that reflect their personal experience of the Glens project. \nOpen to all to attend. DESCRIPTION:An afternoon of tales\, tunes and songs with Liz Weir\, Stephen O’Hara and Ciarán Mulholland.\n  \n1pm Monday 2 May @ The Old Church Centre\nJoin us for a relaxing afternoon listening to fine music\, songs and stories \nLiz Weir is an Irish storyteller with an international reputation. A storyteller for over 40 years\, she has told stories on five continents\, but her favourite place in the world is where she lives at Ballyeamon Barn near Cushendall. \nCiarán Mulholland  is a musician and singer-songwriter who lives close to Slemish Mountain. He has been playing the fiddle since he was 11 years old and is the regular fiddle player for Haste to the Wedding ceilidh band based in Larne and is also part of a new three piece band called Ceolta \nStephen O’Hara is a native of Cushendun who  came to storytelling via his interest in creative writing\, He tells stories from Irish mythology and folklore.  \nFree to attend.
