SUMMARY:Set Dancing Workshop - St.Ciaran's PS
DESCRIPTION:Part of the cultural life of Cushendun has been\, over generations\, traditional music and dance. Set dancing took place in houses and was an important part of local tradition until the 1950s\, when it began to decline. However\, the 1980s saw a major revival across Ireland\, and it was practised in Cushendun again until the 1980s\, after which no teacher could be secured. James Barron now runs a class each year between October and St Patrick’s Day\, so set dancing is firmly back in the village\, with today’s workshop testimony to that revival. Our teacher will be Ronán Eastwood\, and both beginners and experienced dancers are welcome to attend. The event is provided by Cushendun District and Development Association as a contribution to Culture Month. \nCost: £6 cash at door. Booking via thecdda@gmail.com
