Peat bogs have formed a huge part of the Northern Irish landscape and culture for millennia. This exhibition explores the significance of peat bogs via a combination of science and art.
The Heart of the Glens Landscape Partnership Scheme has produced a comprehensive history of peat (also known as turf), and will take you on a journey through the story from early settlers to the environmental importance of peatlands today.
Cloughmills artist Sharon Adams presents works inspired by memories of time spent in the moss with her grandfather. Her peat spades are a response to those childhood memories and are part of her long-standing interest in historical tools.
We are presenting the exhibition online as the Old Church Centre has had to close due to the current situation.
