Jazz Night with Linley Hamilton & the Sazeracs

2 May 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

£15

Join us for an evening of Jazz and Blues as we open the Big Arts Weekend 2025

The Sazeracs is a band consisting of Linley Hamilton on trumpet, Kyron Bourke on vocals / piano and Andrew Lavery on drums. Each member boasts years of experience playing in an eclectic mix of bands across genres. The main premise of this project is to breathe new life in to some classic songs from the New American songbook by adding their own unique Jazz interpretation of songs from the like of Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen, Massive Attack, Nick Cave and Lou Reed. The Sazeracs have a unique approach to the material they play, with melodic referencing and intricate arrangements making this one of the more popular festival bands around.

Kyron Bourke is vocalist, pianist, bass player and songwriter. His voice and style of delivery have been compared to Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits and his enigmatic charm and passion for performing are infectious and the driving force for the whole concept.

Dr. Linley Hamilton is a staple in the Northern Ireland Jazz scene, boasting a long and eclectic career. He’s played with Northern Ireland’s finest including Van Morrison, Paul Brady, Foy Vance and Dana Masters. When he’s not playing trumpet, you can tune in to his BBC Radio Ulster show ‘Jazz World with Linley Hamilton’ and is curator of Magy’s Farm. Linley recently received an MBE for services to music.

Andrew Lavery is the drummer, and the beating heart of our rhythm section. He has had a long and varied career playing jazz drums with an eclectic mix of performers and groups. He is a listener who has found a way of providing grooves that tie the music together dynamically as well as cementing the narrative of the melody instruments.
