An exhibition of rarely-seen paintings will take place on the weekends of the 8^th and 15^th of June 2024, from 11am to 5pm, in the Old Church Centre in the village of Cushendun. This picturesque Glens of Antrim village, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, was the location for many paintings by acclaimed 20^th Century artists such as James Humbert Craig, Maurice Wilks, Charlie McAuley, Theo Gracey, Rowland Hill and Kenneth Webb.

Two of these artists, James Humbert Craig, the 80^th anniversary of whose death is on the 12^th of June, and Maurice Wilks, made their homes in the area, which offered huge scope for the creation of seascapes and landscapes of every kind, from high bog-land and wooded hills, to hay meadows and grazing livestock on the riverbanks of the green glens.

These painters, and others, were variously associated with Cushendun and with the Glens of Antrim School of Art from the 1910s to the 1960s, producing oil and watercolour paintings of outstanding quality, thereby not only creating a demand for their art but also setting an artistic standard which still influences local and visiting artists of today.
