After our last news update in January our programme was impacted by a cluster of event cancellations. As ever, these things seem to happen in threes: Storm Éowyn, speaker illness and then low ticket sales. As a team of volunteers (with a couple of part time staff) we work hard on our events programme and it’s disappointing to all of us when things can’t go ahead. We apologise to everyone effected and thank you for your patience as we processed refunds and made new plans.
On a much more positive note, two of our March dates quickly sold out. Thank you to eveyone who secured tickets promptly for International Women’s Day with Professor Phil Scraton and Bernadette McAliskey and for the Photography Workshop with Cathal McNaughton.
This weekend we look forward to hearing from Dr Margaret Ward who will discuss her latest book Rebel Women, detailing previously hidden histories of the women of Cumann na mBan in the Glens in the 1920s. 2pm Saturday 1 March FREE (but please book).
The Pop up Tea Shop returns 11am to 4pm Sunday 2 March for a blast of fresh-baked goodness.
Join Katy in The Old Church Centre for a drop-in Banner Making Workshop in preparation for the Big Arts Weekend. Sunday 16 March, 11am to 2pm.
For St Patrick’s Day we are hosting a performance of traditional music, song and dance 7pm Saturday 22 March. This free evening features young musicians from Comhaltas groups in the Dalriada area. (Please note this was previously mentioned as 15 March).
Our regular community events this month are the Whist Drive 7.30pm Tuesday 4 March and the Tuesday Get Together 12.30am 11 March.
And if you’d like to join our Volunteer team, come along to The Old Church Centre at 7pm this Friday, 28 March to meet the team and find out more about how you could get involved.
Our regular community events are the Whist Drive 7.30pm 4 February and Tuesday Get Together 12.30am 11 February.
